Marina Pacifica Shopping Center is undergoing a significant transformation with the addition of “The Boardwalk at Marina Pacifica,” a new waterfront space connecting the front of the center to the waterfront. This project includes reimagining Barnes & Noble as a single-level store, and the former lower level will become a walkway and home to new tenants. The Boardwalk will offer spaces for relaxation, gathering, and events, aiming to create a vibrant community hub.
I spoke with Simon Festinesi, CEO at Code Zero Management, who has been working with this project for the past three years. He shared, “my biggest challenge has been to address the waterfront area. Efforts normally focus on the front of the shopping center, but there is enormous impact that we can make on shopper experience by focusing on the water as well. The opening of The Boardwalk along the waterfront will change the dynamics of the shopping center. We are excited about what this means for the shopping center and for the community!”
The official opening of The Boardwalk, a walkway from Jade to Tantalums, is set for the beginning of September. It is a great location to get outside and enjoy beauty and fresh air as you walk along the waterfront.
Get ready to party on September 19th in the courtyard by the yoga studio. The Arts Council for Long Beach will be hosting State of the Arts 2025, a vibrant evening of live music, mural unveilings, awards, and celebration.
The Boardwalk at Marina Pacifica:
- Concept: A new waterfront space designed to connect the front of the shopping center with the waterfront.
- Renovations: Involves a single-level Barnes & Noble, new tenants in the former lower level, and a walkway leading to the waterfront.
- Features: Spaces for relaxation, gathering, and events. Beginning in September, you will be able to walk along the waterfront from Jade to Tantelum Restaurant.
- Barnes & Noble Reopening: Barnes & Noble closed in May and workers told me that every single day people are going around barriers to ask them what happened to the store and will it be back. Yes, it plans to reopen around the end of October.
- Official Opening: The Boardwalk is scheduled to open at the beginning of September. From what I can gather, it will be a soft opening.
- Community Involvement: The Arts Council of Long Beach is sponsoring State of the Arts 2025 and will unveil six new murals about Long Beach at this event. The event will be held in the yoga studio courtyard and is FREE to attend. You can also buy tickets to attend a VIP reception. Mayor Rex Richardson and other dignitaries will be in attendance.
