Long Beach State University (LBSU) has 19 sports teams that compete at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level, including some of the top-rated teams in the country. • Have you ever been to a volleyball match? It is amazing to watch the athleticism of the athletes. LBSU men’s team won the NCAA Men’s Volleyball Championship in 2025!
• The 1998 women’s volleyball team was the first team in NCAA Division I history to have an undefeated season. Alum Misty May has won three Olympic gold medals in Beach Volleyball.
• The men’s baseball team has produced prominent professional players, including former American League MVP Jason Giambi, Bobby Crosby, Evan Longoria, Jered Weaver, Troy Tulowitzki, Danny Espinosa, and Jarren Duran.
